when you come home from a hard days work that you have a funny
slip stuck in your door.
This slip may indicate:
The Yakuza is coming after you.
The post office wanted to drop off something at your house,
but you weren't there.
This is called a 不在届 'fu zai to do ke'
On the bottom of the slip, there should be a toll-free number.
When you call, you will here an automated message. You should
press 0 to speak with the operator.
You can say something like the following:
You:
すみません、留守の間に不在届もらったんですが。もう一度送っていただきますか?
sumimasen, rusu no aida ni fuzaitodoke morratan desuga. mouichido
okkute itadakemasuka?
Excuse me, I received a while-you-were-out slip in my mail
box. Can you send the package again?
Them:
畏まりました。お客様の届け番号・確認番号お願いします。
kashikomarimashita. okiyakusama no todoke bangou onegaishimasu
OK. Please tell me the receipt number・confirmation number.
You:

Them:
